To My Three Little Ladies….
If there’s one thing I want my daughters to know and hold with them their whole life, it’s that they special and I believe in them. It had been a dream my whole life to see a book I had written in print. So when I wrote my book, A Bitter Frost, and subsequently self published it and got my personal shipment, I set aside 3 books, one for each of my daughters, to write in each one a special message just for her.
After some time, I realized that what I would say to each girl would be completely different and would change frequently as they each developed and grew. So, I thought it best to write the one thing that I most want them each to always remember about themselves:
Life is a beautiful journey and through your journey, because you are you and because you are special, you will make your most wonderful dreams come true.
It may not be easy, and you may feel discouraged. You may not always feel supported, you may sometimes feel let down. But if you try really hard and you never give up, you will find a way to make your dream come true. That, my daughters, I can promise you.
All of my dreams came true and the same will happen for you. I dreamed of meeting the most wonderful, perfect man in the whole wide world and when I went to college, I did. And then I dreamed he would ask me to marry him and he did. I dreamed and hoped we would have a perfect, fairy tale wedding and on April 26th we did. Then, I dreamed of having perfect, beautiful children. And I was granted that wish three times. I always dreamed of writing and publishing a book, and in February 2013, I did.
All of my biggest dreams in life have come true; each and every one. Some by circumstance, others I had to work for. And even though I’m a grown up, I still have big dreams and I am going to work to make them all happen. And one day, you will too.
I love you, all of you. I believe in you. I know you will make good choices, I know you will do the right thing most of the time. I know you will make mistakes but you will pick yourself up and learn from those mistakes and move on. I know you will be loving, compassionate, caring and supportive of each other as you strive for your dreams. I know you are strong and I know you won’t give up. I know you are unique, I know you are different from each of your sisters and I know above all that you are special.
I want you to look at this book and understand that it is symbolic of ALL of my dreams coming true, including each of you. And I want you to know you can make your dreams come true, too. Believe in yourself, because you are special.
